Summer Reading Challenge workshops in Newcastle
(Artwork by Sarah McIntyre)
The Art Heroes team will be running Mythical Maze-themed comics and cartooning workshops around Newcastle to tie into this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
These free workshops will give children and young people aged 8yrs+ the chance to design their own mythical characters with help from the Art Heroes team.
Book places on the sessions by clicking on the links below.
You can now order Halcyon & Tenderfoot: The Complete Collection from artheroes.bigcartel.com.
136 pages of exciting super hero comics following a young sidekick on his journey to becoming a hero.
We’ve been working in a lot of schools recently for Newcastle and Gateshead Libraries. On Friday, we visited Kenton School to a fantastic reception from Mr Wilkinson and other members of staff - and the Year 7 pupils we worked with.
And now Mr Wilkinson has sent us this great ‘thank you’ image. It’s the nicest thing we’ve ever received from a teacher. You can see the rest of Mr Wilkinson’s art on his Facebook page.
All four issues of the all-ages superhero family drama - plus the out-of-print preview issue - will finally be available in one lovely A5 volume, complete with sketchbook and process pages.
The Art Heroes team will be at Table 5 in the CCA: Glasgow’s Ground Floor Atrium throughout Sunday and running a Creating Characters workshop at 12noon. Come and see us to pick up your signed copy of the book’s first print run.
If you can’t make it to Glasgow, you can pre-order your physical or digital version of the book now in our shop.
And if you’re a reviewer/blogger/podcaster and you’d like a PDF of the book, email email@example.com. We’re always available for interviews too.
